Day 1: Masai Mara National Reserve
Begin your adventure with an early morning departure to Maasai Mara National Reserve, one of the last few places on Earth where wildlife continues to thrive relatively undisturbed, reminiscent of the times when Africa’s plains and forests were teeming with animals. As the northern tip of the vast Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara plays host to the incredible seasonal migration of thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and their predators. Arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive.
Day 2: Masai Mara National Reserve – Full-Day Safari
After breakfast, embark on a full day of game viewing in the reserve. The landscape features stunning savannah grasslands on rolling hills, making it the best park for wildlife in Kenya, with an extensive road network for close-range viewing and photography. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the hippo pool while keeping an eye out for hippos and crocodiles. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the campsite.
Day 3: Masai Mara National Reserve – Nakuru
After an early breakfast, there is an optional visit to a Maasai village. Depart for Nakuru with a picnic lunch along the way, arriving in the evening. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and unwind—relax, swim, or catch up with family via Wi-Fi. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park
Start your day with an early morning pick-up and drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its flamingos and recognized as one of the Natural Wonders of the World. The park also serves as a Rhino Sanctuary, home to over 40 black and 60 white rhinos. While flamingos are the star attraction, the park’s wildlife diversity is equally impressive. Arrive for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the campsite or lodge.
Day 5: Lake Naivasha
In the morning, head to Lake Naivasha, the highest and most scenic of the Rift Valley lakes at 1,910 meters (6,200 feet) above sea level. Its fresh waters are fringed with dense papyrus, providing habitats for kingfishers and herons. Naivasha is popular for birdwatching, boasting over 400 recorded species, and is a favorite weekend retreat for Nairobi residents who come to sail, water ski, and fish. While there are no crocodiles in the lake due to the cool temperatures, hippos are present, and vineyards nearby produce grapes for Kenya’s budding wine industry.
Day 6: Amboseli National Park
After an early morning start, drive to Amboseli National Park. Check into your accommodation and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, set out for a game drive. Located south of Nairobi, Amboseli features a dry, ancient lakebed, fragile grasslands, and patches of acacia woodland, along with small volcanic hills and lush vegetation around the swamps of Ol Kenya, Ol Tukai, and Enkongo Narok.
Day 7: Amboseli National Park
Rise early to catch a stunning view of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds cover the summit. A packed lunch will be provided. After breakfast, you have the option to visit a Maasai village, where you can witness their singing, dancing, and sacred rituals, and gain insight into their homes and social structure. Despite habitat changes, Amboseli remains one of Africa’s best places to observe elephants up close, as they roam and bathe in the swamps undisturbed by poachers. This is sure to be one of the highlights of your safari.
Day 8: Amboseli – Nairobi
After a morning game drive in Amboseli, transfer to Nairobi, arriving around 5 p.m. with lunch en route.
